Hey everyone,

I was just wondering if it's possible to make your own plastic bait molds. I was thinking that maybe there may be some resin or plactic maybe that you could carve to make the sort of bait you want, then suspend it in a liquid that would dry around it and could be cut off in order to leave a two sided sort of cast of the piece that you had carved. I have some ideas for some creature style baits, but I didn't know if there was anyway possible to make them short of using a CNC machine. Any Ideas?

Sorry if it's confusing, I can try to simplify if needed.

Thanks,

-Clint

You can start with a plaster mold  ;)

yeap, go to home depot and get some plaster of paris.  make a box out of legos, pour your plaster of paris in so the box if filled half way.  press your bait half way into the mold.  let it dry, the pour more plaster of paris int the box until its full.  let the whole thing dry for a day or so.  slowly take it apart and remove your bait.  brush the cavaties with valspor to seal it.  carve your pouring hole and your done.

Making a two piece is possible, but you will have some issues with venting. Go to TackleUnderground and do a search for what your looking for. Many discussions on this topic there.

Thanks for the help guys. Any ideas of a material I could make the lure out of so it won't stick, or should anything be safe from sticking?

Thanks Again,
