Does anyone know where I can get a topo-map of Grand Bayou?

Don't know that there is one that is published. You used to be able to get something free from Topozone but that is now a pay site. You could order a topo map from the USGS.

I would just be happy if my stock Lowrance map & Mapcreate would even show water! All my maps on Lowrance show it all as dry land!

I have a topo program at home. I can get you a computer file copy of the area. Looking at it right now, it does not show any "water" where the lake is. I think i' looking at the right spot. All it shows are the bayous/creek channles. Leave a reply if you want me to send it to you via email this evening.

A few years back I got a hold of a map at that shop by the launch.  Not a real good map, but I think it marked the creek channels and depths.  Not real useful if you know the lake.

Go to www.mytopo.com  That is where I get my maps.  Some of the lakes show contour lines, others don't.  You can pick whatever area, scale and so forth you want the map to be done in.

I use this site http://mapper.acme.com/  if I am just at home studying a lake.  Maybe this will help some of you.

Thanks for all the information, but it looks like Google Earth is about the most useful tool at this point.  I was hoping that someone knew of a commercial map that was for sale, maybe around the Coushatta area.  Thanks again.

Need an old topo map and use the 140 MSL contour as pool stage is 138.5 if I remember correctly.  Should be fairly close, but some dirt work was done prior to impoundment.

I have one pre-impoundment that shows the creeks and also there are a couple of ponds that were (are) there as well . On this map the lake banks are outlined in its current form. The outlining is not 100 percent exactly true to form but is close. I had it done by a draftsman I know about two years ago. The main creek is pretty squirrelly . A decent map is crucial in the summer unless you graph the whole lake with a GPS . Matter of fact we caught a 4.35 on the edge of one of the ponds this past weekend...and a fish was hard to come by Sunday. I will put in a call and get some printed up and laminated for ya....as long as youre not in my club.  ~roflmao
