hey guys ever had one of those days when your casting just sucks, you keep getting wind knots or bird nests very frustrating you probaly have heaps of line twist ,probaly caused by not spooling up right or line not laying on spool correct , to rectify this problem easily just take your lure off let about 50 yds of line off the back of the boat while you are going real slow about 5 knots  as you travel your line will untwist leave it out for about a minute  then reel in again and you have perfect line once more works every time on braid and nylon :)

Great tip, thanks for sharing.

Another way to fix line twists that I use (for spinning tackle), is to put a swivel on the line and attach a fairly heavy lure (1/2 or 3/4 oz), cast it out and wind it back in whilst holding the line tight with your finger. The swivel takes out the twists  :-*

Something I have found very effective for line managment is KVD's lure conditioner. It seems like it keeps the line in check, since I have been using it I have had drastically lower backlashes and other line managment issues. (wont do much for line twist) but its great for just about anything else.

As I mentioned in "spooling fluorocarbon" there is an item called a twist out, or something like that and it comes from BPS.
It's a small orange piece that you can put you line in and then reel it on the spool.
Make sure that you line is inside the screw and somewhat snug.
Works every time (at least for me).

hey great tip!!

one variation that I use since I usually forget to untwist my line before I trailer the boat is to put a swivel snap on the end of the line and hook it to my bumper then back up fifty or so feet and apply tension to the line with your rod.  Works pretty well also.

a swivel can  be used to prevent line twist, but it will effect the action of your lure ,as we tend to use smallish hardbodies e.g 45mm to 70 mm so we tie direct to the split ring,,,,,,,,,,,,,, i will have to try the bumper one must remember to unhook it though or my buddy will be running after the ute with a rod in his hand ,,lol
