Kankakee River Report

Fished a connecting ditch to the Kankakee today for 1.5 hours...apparently they got considerably more rain and heavier rain than we did, the water was liquified mud, visibility was 2" in the clear areas, the barometer was falling, humidity high, overcast and 12 degrees cooler than the previous day, during the night it was a lightning fest...but I went anyway, because I saw it as an opportunity to maybe learn something about where the fish went in these condition.

Lures tried...Johnson Minnow - black and silver w/fluorescent green Culprit trailer; bird dawg; 3.5" tender tube; poppers; tiny tubes; and finally, a green/orange/gold Dandy twin willowleaf spinner which I cast all the way up on the bank, then pulled off abrubtly and slow rolled through the thickest vegetation I could find...I had 2 short hits with the Dandy Spinner and caught 0 fish.

Great learning experience...next time I'll start with a large vibrating spinner...my eyes have been opened.
