Right as a big wave of spawners were moving in ..

All 11 gates of Toledo Bend Reservoir's spillway were opened today as officials tried to prevent flooding following Sunday's torrential rains.

The water level of the reservoir that straddles the Louisiana-Texas border rose two feet in 24 hours, the Sabine River Authority said.

The spillway is located south of Many and water was flowing through the gates at a rate of 77,000 gallons per second, officials said.

Officials are hoping the opening of the spillway gates will prevent flooding at Toledo Bend while at the same time not cause flooding downstream.

Rainfall amounts of 10 to 14 inches were reported in areas around Toledo Bend over the weekend. The small town of White Rock, located 13 miles west of Toledo Bend, got a reported 20 inches of rain. Just over 9 inches of rain was reported in Many.

There was isolated flooding of secondary roads in Sabine Parish, Sheriff Guffie Pattison said. No injuries were reported.

Looks like we had the Shootout just in time...& got off the water just in time!

I know all hell broke loose on the drive home after we got a few miles north of the state park...heavy rain, trees in the road, flooded roads...needless to say, it took us a while longer to get home!

Heading out to the Bend tommorrow until Saturday for the LOBI. Going to be interesting with all that fresh water. Hope the fish do like they did a couple years ago and go to my favorite bush's so I can catch them. Will post report when I get back.
