well, I am making my one time annual Toledo fishing trip with the in-laws.
We are staying at the South State Park this weekend.  Anyone know how the fishing has been on the south end?
I don't want to make any runs far north if I don't have to.   I was looking at the map of Pirates Cove which is close.  Is that a good place to start or should I not waste my time in that area?
Any info appreciated, thanks.

We just fished the UBCS down there and most everyone brought fish to the scales day after day.

If it is windy use a 3/8 spinner bait in chartruse blue and white pitched to the grass lines and slow roll it back to the boat and I mean slow.  If you can't get bit slow it down.   lo

Watermelon red lizard pitched to docks or stick ups if they don't hit it on the fall, drag it out slow.  try to hit the darkest part of the cover your working, better still is to have some grass close by.

The Corks were bed fishing and won the event but my Boy and I boated 48 fish in 3 days of fishing and shook off about 15/20 on Friday and lost about 15/20 more over the trip.

Worked Yokem for a few hours but the wind made the ride back suck so stayed south of the park Fri, Sat and Sun because I had my boy with.  We boated 16 fish Thursday just fishing the coves by the cabins, sinkos, flukes and spinnerbaits.

Good Luck and hope you enjoy your trip.

Oh most of my time was spent in Indian Creek   ;)

Caught ours on a watermelon/blue lizard off grass lines. Also caught some fish using a black/blue jig on docks in prirates cove, good place to start. Last fish came on a spinner in the grass. Good luck. I hear the water has really come up. It actually may pay off to run north aways to stay out of that flood water. You'll just have to see how it is once you get there.
