Does anyone know how to make grooved crankbaits?  They have been a secret down in the Tn area from what I understand and are pretty rare to come by for sale.

Thanks,

CJ

Bass pro shops makes crankbaits with grooves in the side going vertically if thats what you are talking about, but I've never heard of doing that before.

Its like that, only i have seen it done to Bandit 200's and Deep Little N's.  I woudl like to be able to make them since they always catch a pretty penny when they sell.

Aren't they solid Balsa.  I would think you would probably be able to file grooves into it.

That one Buzzbait posted is Rick Clunn's Orion. I have a bunch of them and they're awesome. I think they sell for like $6-$7 now at BPS.

This looks like it could really add some vibes.

I found out that some guys heat up a metal rod and lay it on the bait to create the grooves on Bandits.  I might try this on some bad baits.....any thoughts on doing this?

If they are wooden use a dremmel tool to make the groves.
