Because of a high tail gate and small grand children I bought a rear view camera that mounts to the license plate with a monitor that mounts to the dash and is activated when in reverse gear.  I was surprised when I backed up to the boat trailer after mounting the camera.  I could see both the trailer hitch and the ball.  Now I just pull in front of trailer, put the truck in reverse and watch the monitor.  When I see the hitch over the ball I put it in park, lock the P brake, get out and lower the hitch down on the ball.  I've put a small piece of reflective tape on the front of the hitch to make it easier to see at night.

This is much easier than having the wife try to guide you back.

Thanks for sharing, sounds like a great thing to use, the bad thing about it is the price, I think it costs like $80-$90 right?

Great tip  ~c~ , I'd probably back the ball right into the camera  lo

Thanks for sharing your tip BW  ~c~
I have a reversing camera fitted to my car and agree that it is sooooo easy to reverse upto the trailer.

Mine was $79 at Costco.  You realize it's a small price to pay the first time you start to back up and see a small child standing behind the truck.  The trailer hookup is just an added benefit.

BW that's a great tip and a small price to pay if you have little ones around. ~c~ ~c~
