Thinking about fishing again, guess I better buy a boat.  I may look at a 20 ft blazer, how do they do in big water and are they reasonably dry for a fast boat.

Back in the day I had a Laser that did ok in rough water, it was fairly dry and real fast.

I need an unbiased opinion.

Thanks, Billy

First welcome to the site. I'll try to help you out with an answer. My Blazer is a 21', but the hull of the 20' is pretty much the same until you get to the transom. ;) The 21' will handle rougher water a little better than the 20' model for the obvious reason, but I would think the rides are about the same as far as dryness goes. I'm very happy with mine, it is a good dry ride. The only time I've gotten wet is when it's too rough to actually run and I've had to basically idle, and the wind comes across the gunnel instead of front to back. That's the only time I've gotten any splash in mine. As far as big water, Lake George in Fla is pretty big, and shallow so it gets pretty rough. I've ran mine, and I know a couple of guys with 20 models that use them there. The fella that got 2nd last week in the BASS open runs a Blazer 202, his name is Lee Stalvey. He was fishing Lake George and the spring runs that feed it.

Thanks very much for the info.  If I went with a Blazer would probably go with the 21, I fogot to mention that.

Also have another question, the deck narrows on the blazer at the front quite a bit, or at least it looks it to me, I could be mistaken, comments please.

Thanks, Billy

There are some boats with a larger front deck. My old partner's Gambler, for instance. Yesterday I fished with six rods out, 3 on each side, and I still have room to walk around the pedestal seat. Whether we fished out of my boat or his, we both usually fished from the front deck, so it's probably a bit larger than you think. It does narrow at the very front, I can get some measurements for you if you need them.

In calmer conditions, the 202 (20' model) is going to be a little faster than the same HP 210 model (21'). But if the chop gets up, the 210 will hold it's speed a little better than the 202. That's why I went with the 210.

By the way WWDIII, where are you located? I'm in the Charlotte area and if you are anywhere near by I'll be glad to let you take a test run in a Blazer.

I have a 06 202 blazer and it handles rough water pretty good. I ran 90 miles Saturday one way for a tour. had to cross plenty of big water in some places the waves were up to 4 ft. we did not get wet. you can go any where a triton or a ranger can.  if interested in a new one give me a shout. my blazer is for sale it has 3 year of warranty left on the engine.

Allen,

We are a long ways apart, thanks for the offer.  I live in Pearland Tx (Houston).

Welcome to the forum, I have 210 and I'm well pleased with the way it handles in rough water. If it is real rough I beleive anybody will get wet no matter what boat your in. ~gf
