This may have been posted before, but the best tip I can give is to get a good nights sleep before you head out. Many a time I've stayed up late getting things ready, then been miserable half way through the day's fishing. Your reflexes will be faster and you will enjoy the day much more if you're well rested!
C'mon, I know I've got another pack of Senkos in here somewhere!

That's a great tip  :-* :-* but sometimes I just can't sleep the night before fishing due to excitement

Yeah, I'm the same way, but if you can get some good sleep, it really makes for a better day of fishing!

I can't sleep the night before I fish.  I'm way too excited.  :surrender:

That is probably the most valuable tip you can get. I know i have had miserable days on the lake all because i didnt get a good nites sleep. And i even try to sneak in a nap if im going out night fishing. I just like to be good and awake and keep the mind sharp.

HOW TRUE!!!!!......
Getting the proper rest before a tourney or for that matter a regular ole fishing trip is a must. 2 years ago because of improper planning on my fault I actually cost me in the neighbor hood of $2000. I fish every year in the Ronald McDonald Big Bass Bonanza. That particular year woulda been a scholar year if I had gotten my rest. With rest your reflexes and casting skills are sharper. Its a 2 day tourney that starts at legal sunrise and ends at 3:00 pm both days. The Friday before I worked all day, after work went to Monroe for the pre-tourney meeting, went to wal-mart on the way home picked up needed items, went to the house fixed sammiches and everything.........you get the picture. Didnt get to bed before 11:00pm. Following day I was half asleep. Big fish hit around 10:30 in the am AFTER I just got through with a cup of coffee to try and wake up. Missed the hookset cause I wasnt sharp enough to see the fish coming through the weeds........MY PARTNER DID. Basically the same thing happened again on Sunday. Moral of the story

Best tip you could have given and I will NEVER fish again without proper rest especially when money is on the line.
