Hi, I am new to this forum, and it seems like a great place for info. I am looking forward to lots of reading!

I have a 2005 Nitro 901CDX with a Mercury 150 XR6 Nitro motor, and it is just getting broken in. Runs great. However, I took it out today for the first time this year, and after a few minutes, the warning buzzer started going, and would not stop until I shut the motor down and waited a few minutes. Then I could run a bit more, but with the same results. If I kept it real slow, it would not go off. I had a good water stream out the back, and the presure gauge showed 0psi at idle, but would go up to 10 or 15 at higher RPM. All the other guages showed normal, but there is no temp guage. Anyone know what the buzzer is for? I was thinking water temp, but with a seemingly good water flow, and the motor didn't appear to be very hot when checking under the cowl, I am stumped. Any ideas?

Thanks, Rich

is it oil injected? they will go off when they get low. the buzzer in mine is for the temperature getting to hott. i would go to a mechanic and make sure there aint nothing wrong with it. it may be just touching somewhere. but i wouldnt want to burn my motor up. hope that helps

It is oil injected, and the plastic container on the motor is full, as it the remote resevior.
Thanks for the input.

Had the same problem with mine last year and they had to replace the oil sending unit. The motor was never in any danger of blowing up, and I was in the middle of a tourney when it decided to go bad. Try fishing all day hearing that thing going off everytime you run to a new spot. Water PSI was good, engine was burning oil, so I felt comfortable running it that day.

Good luck with yours.

Soemthing to get checked out - I too suspect oil system.  Have been there before myself - on my old 17 ft Nitro the whole oil reservoir had to be removed and replaced with new one.  Not expensive - but necessary none the less.

Thanks for all the help. Turns out it was the water over temp alarm (continuous tone). The oil alarm makes intermittent noise. Actually, it was not caused by over heating, but by a bad sensor on the head. Turns out that this is a common issue, and the dealer said that the right side is more often the problem than the left. The new sensor cost around $50, left sensor would have been cheaper - go figure.

If the left went bad the right would have been cheaper!  LOL  Glad to hear you got it figured out  ~c~
