Guardian Livewells

OK I give up and am about to do something drastic.  How do you all drain these flipping things?  The Guardian Livewells are in the shape of a boot and I love how it gives the fish a dark place to feel safe and calm down, but the drain hole is on the side of the live well so if you pump out the water or if you just let it drain on the drive home you still end up with about 4 to 6 cups of water in the bottom.

I was thinking of drilling a hole in the bottom and using a small plug while it was in use, but my fear is what happend if I'm running down the water and the plug comes out and the fish get left high and dry and bounced all over the place until I stop?

Anyone have an idea or can you tell me what you guys are doing to drain out the Guardian style Livewells without having to do it by hand?

  Hey Fogy, one of the boats I ran offshore didnt have a drain on the fishbox, so I got a 4"x 6" car was sponge to bail the water out  if its only 4 cups you can have it dry with about 3 times of ringing out the sponge.

I agree with previous Fogy - may be a small pain, but beats putting holes where holes were not designed to be put.

Just get an insert put in the bottom Fogy and get an expandable screw in plug like they used to run as boat plugs. If you dont know what i'm talking about let me know. You know as you twist it, it expands the plug. That would hold it in place and you wouldn't have to worry about it popping out and flooding your boat out.

i may not know exactly how this works, but if you have a pump out for this hole it's connected to some sort of pump, how about a piece of hose that will fit in the hole good & snug that you can kindof "vacuum" the leftover water out when you're done fishing...sure beats the sponge or dipping cup method...lol.  Well that's my idea for ya, hope it works
