We have 3 or so dozen carpenter bees flying around our porch and now when its cold outside they start to drop like flies and end up crawling on the porch. They dont sting but I grab them with pliers everymorning that they are out there and put them in a cool-whip container and put them in the fridge. They float in the water and sometimes have a little life left in them so they will buzz and flap the wings a little. They make great bream bait. I use a little soapy water when I see one buzzing around one of the holes and this does not kill them but makes their wings slick so they cannot fly. As I said these pests make EXTREMELY good bream and bluegill bait.

My wish, for you, is that this life becomes all that you want it to,
Your dreams stay big, your worries stay small.
