Got a new Lews Andy Montomery skipping reel and wanted to put it to work. Used the Readfield launch, starting at 10:30. 85 degrees hazy a bit humid light breeze, post spawn. Fished the big fields of pads with a scum frog launch toad working my way left. No takers on the frog.  Started skipping and pitching each dock as they came using a super spook in between. Reel was as advertised, the deal. Wide shallow spool holding a bit more line than a long cast.  I spent a lot of time at each dock  and pontoon going for the smallest cracks. My other skipping reel is a curado e7; complaint was always the thumb bar catching loops should you back lash along with deep digging sometimes. No issues Montgomery's reel a few minor 'lashes. Fished 40 docks or so and I am fairly confident that fish were not on docks lol. Not one bite, not one follow on my 1/2oz arky jig and menace grub trailer. Between docks I did catch 4 and have several other blowups on the super spook casting beyond the weed/breakline 7'-10'. Cabbage is in very good shape, almost too much of it. Called it quits at 3. Never did catch one on the new set up though pleased with it.
You can't always catch them the way you want to. Fished the spook on long cast 65 braid 7'6" rod..... braid didn't seem  to bother the fish in the very clear water.

Thanks for the report and review on the reel. I've been eyeballing them, skipping and pitching is basically all I do down here...

I will do a better review after using it a bit more. A giant bass on the end (any bass) would help so I can review the drag. So far I am pleased. I have been a shimano guy for the last 15 years or so. I might be a Lews convert. The spool and thumb bar on the skipping reel is well thought out, wide shallow and narrow. The reels I purchased for Florida Flippin are all Lews American Hero. No complaints at all with those even though under $60 each.
