Used plastic frogs tip

Alright, If your like me you used either the Sizmic Toad, Yum Buzzfrog or the Horny Toad.  You also know that after they have several hits on them that the heads start to tear.  Well I keep all of my old plastics in a bag after I use them. 

On a fishing trip last summer I had been catching fish all day on the Sizmic Toad.  I started jig fishing afterwards and was looking for just the right trailer.  Down at my feet was a Sizmic Toad that had been tore to pieces.  I took what was left which was the tails and part of the body and used it as a jig trailer.  It worked great, the flappin' legs made the perfect craw imitation in the water. 

Here is a tip that I think will come handy this year for those of you who fish these baits.

What I did was match up the trailers with the jigs in the best color combo I could.  I got lucky and the colors were a great match:




Next, depending on the jig size, I cut the toad to match the jig:



The jig on the right is a Flippin' Finesse Jig, I took the toad and cut it way down so it wouldn't be too bulky on the jig.  On the bigger jig I took the toad and simply cut the damaged part off and added it to the jig.



And there you go, not only are you getting more use out of the baits, you are adding great action to your jigs.

An added tip to the tip - if you use a parasite clip with the frog - you'll have less of them jig trailers to bag up.
