I am currently looking into buying my neighbors boat but cant find any information on it anywhere. Here is some information about the boat and if anyone could provide anymore I would greatly appreciate it.
1989 Ranger Rawhide
15'6''
Yamaha 70 horse with power trim
Minnkota 36 lb thrust trolling motor
Humminird fish finder (never used)
Condition of the boat is;
Cosmetically the boat is in excellent shape, paint is great, carpet is great, seat is ripped and trailer is in decent shape.
Mechanically, the only thing wrong is the carbs are gummed up.

What do you guys think this boat is worth?  I am wanting to try and buy it this Friday so any extra info and opinions would be great.

Knowing that Nada Guides is strictly a guideline for pricing, I did a little looking for you.

The boat has an average retail price is $1,700, the Yamaha outboard is worth another $710 and the trailer is adding another $250, all based on the assumption that all are from 1989.

Remember that you're going to have to have the carbs cleaned and the seats reupholstered.  My son in law just had his seats redone and it cost him $300.00 for a good job, with vinyl better than original.

So, if the boat is in otherwise good shape, I'd say it's worth somewhere in the neighborhood of $2,500 to $3,500.

Steve thanks a ton for your help, it is greatly appreciated.  I thought I had read somewhere where the values of these particular boats was somewhere in the neighborhood of 2000-3500 depending on condition.
My neighbor is asking 2500 if he fixes it and 2000 if he doesnt, I think that sounds pretty fair.
Again, Steve thanks for your help.

If I were you, I'd call around, find out how much to have the carb problem taken care of, as well as getting the seats reupholstered.

You might be better off paying $2,000 for the boat and paying for the carb rebuild/seat job on your own.  Only a little time on the telephone will tell you how much that will cost.   :-*

However, I would get it in writing that IF the carb job doesn't take care of the motor problem, you can get a refund.   ^-^

Otherwise, if it's going to be close to $500 to have the work done, you should get an agreement firmed up as to exactly how much you'll pay and let him pay the bills.  The mechanic might find out that it's not just the carbs causing the problem.  If you have an agreement in place prior to the sale, you'll not pay extra!
