Hi oldad61 sure glad to have you on Ultimatebass.com  welcome aboard.

When you get a chance to post a photo or two, we are ready.  It's always nice to see people and there boats.

As far as a project updating your deck, we have all kinds of different boats and people sure have tinkered around on different projects.  I'm sure we could offer some advice from time to time.

Once again welcome and if you ever need anything, please just ask.

Thanks Guys,
I would like to extend the front deck and increase storage space.
Update so the boat look newer, bringing the deck all the way back to the consoles and removing the frt seats. I spent all weekend replacing the wood in the fuel tank and battery area and still have to do the wiring. I'm going to show my ignorance here and ask a beginners question. Does this Evenrude have a place on the powerhead to check oil? Automotive repair and body work are my speciality so outboards are all Greek so far, but I'm learning fast.
Thanks Again To All. Stay in touch.

Well oldad61, I think the only two ways the outboard will get oil is:

A) through a reservoir, in which case you need to check the level there or,
B) the oil must be mixed in the gas like the old lawnmower engines.

My 1987 johnson 48 SPL is like that (B that is).  My tank is 17 gallons and it requires 50:1 ratio for the fuel/oil mixture.  I have a plastic jar which I measure the oil in, and add it to the gas.

Hope this answer your ?.  Someone else will come along and have a better answer about your particular engine.
