Well, this is it for us for the year. The guide trips, tournaments, and the Bass School Classes are now over, and it's nothing but fun fishing for "Trophy Bass and Pike" for us until we put the boats away for good in 3 weeks.
The fishing was slow to fair, but it was a pleasant experience in the lakes compared to our usual fast pace and rough water in the bay and Potomac River.
Red Mill produced 2 bass that were 3 1/2 pounds on a Mann's crankbait and a Terminator 1/2 ounce tandem spinnerbait from shallow wood. Killens in Dover produced a few more fish but they all ranged around 2-2 1/2 pounds. Most came from around the Island and wood on "Senko's", and a" Netbait", "Senko" Type" bait.
Lums was it's usual self, producing 2 bass on a Terminator spinnerbait from shallow wood by the beach, and 2 others of almost 3 pounds from some shallow wood on a B&D jig with a Bearpaws trailer in Blue.
It was pleasant to be out though, and they learned all we could teach in three days at these water temperatures. Now we go after trophy bass and pickerel next week, then it's out on the bay for a final Striper trip before putting the boats away for the winter.
We will still fish one of our private lakes on nice days from a Johnboat, and we have a "Secret Spot" that produces numbers and "Trophy class Largemouth" right from the shore, the week before the lakes actually start to freeze, which will probably be mid-December this year the way the weather has been in the northeast. So we will have a few more good reports for you from Delaware and Maryland before year end, then it's Florida for a week or two, and then it's time to get ready for the spring and the heavy tournament schedules we have laid out for ourselves for next year. Not very many guide trips or bass classes, just tournaments and new DVD videos for next year, and lots of new features and baits on the site and in the store. Until next time, Steve and Kurt
