Took advantage of a non-fishing day for some boat clean up. A year ago picked up a Bissel Green Machine Pro.

It's a great little portable shampooer, made for pet owners, that works great for carpet or upholstery.  You have to make sure the shampoo formula you get is for portable units, not upright, or you will get excess suds in the waste water.

My first step was hitting the boat carpet with a shop vac to remove loose dirt and dust.

My plan was to work back to front in three sections; back deck, passenger well, then front deck.  I like to work each area in sections of about 2' by 3'.  Before starting each section I go after obvious stains with a spot cleaner and scrub brush.

Then it is time for the Green Machine.  It's been a year since I did this and I was a little shocked at how black the waste water was. It took 6 or 7 fills and dumps of the solution. The carpet ends up close to dry after a couple extra pulls with just suction and no spray.

I'll show results in comments below.

I have that exact machine, and clean my carpet the same way as you.  For the money, you cant beat that machine.  It does great for a portable.
Doctor says I should stay away from other people.
