Got out yesterday for a few hours of casting practice and trying to get back into fishing shape. Not a lot of fish activity despite a fast falling tide and finally some cooler water temps, 72-77 degrees. Managed to put 2 keeper bass, 5 short ones and a 19" red fish in the boat in 6 hours of fishing on 2 spinner baits and a june bug worm. My go to baits for this time of year in our marsh, DOA and Vudu shrimp, have not produced anything so far when many years you will have 20-40 fish days on these baits. Maybe it was the cold front that passed through the day before or maybe I just can't find the fish but either way it was a tough day. Northerly winds 5-10,air temps 65-90, clear skies and water visibility was around 2-3' in the smaller bayous and less in the bigger ones. At least I had my line stretched by the red fish
Retired and loving every minute of it!
