Can't believe its 2025 already!  :o  My new year's tradition for over 20 years has been to go fishing. Yesterday was no exception. I arrived to a very foggy ramp just before sunrise. Loaded up and into the fog I went.

Noticed there was a little current running, so I stopped at an area that I know bass stage up at to take an advantage of the current. I started with a top water, and quickly put it away. There was plenty of gar activity but no visible signs of any bass actively feeding.

I switched to a bottom presentation fished deep, and after a little while, I connected with my first bass of 2025. Little guy, but hey, you need to start from somewhere.  ;)

Moved to another spot using the TM. Connected with another bass but shallow this time. So one bass deep and another shallow. Continued fishing deep. Nothing. Switched shallow, nothing. Hmmm.

Moved locations all together. Continued with the same pattern. Deep and shallow. Connected with both approaches again, but small bass.

Switched gears, went top water again. Cast out my lure, slurp. Connected! Not a big bass, but better than what I was catching earlier. Stayed topwater and connected with another 10 bass in very short order. Then, lights out. The bass stopped biting just like that.  :-\

Turned around, and fished the same 100 yard stretch again. Nothing!

Switched gears again. Began fishing the bottom and the middle water column. Connected with a few more bass, but the catch rate was a bite every 15-20 minutes or so.

The bite never really turned on again, mid day was rolling around, so I called the trip. Ended up boating 28 bass. Not bad for the first day of the New Year.

Thanks for reading!

Nice catches! The bass were definitely active yesterday.  :)
