Neighborhood Lake
Strong cold front coming
Wind NE 30

Been fishing these same waters 5 days a week.  Tonight we are expecting our first cold front of this season.  For us that is still 80* but a big change from almost 100*.  I have been catching lots of 14" bass for months but the big girls have been absent.  Lots of thick bottom grasses for big ones to be hiding in.  This is an old rock pit with a hard rocky bottom, with grass throughout.  It is also deep with drop-offs, boulders, some flats, and deep holes.

Tonight I started with a plastic stickbait, and caught 8 fourteen inch bass as usual.  With the 30 mph winds blowing from my back, I made long casts Covering as much bottom waters as I could.  Suddenly a subtle bite as soon as I set the hook I knew it was one of the big girls that have lived here for years.

Something I have noticed over the years, little bass will bite and immediately run off like crazy with your bait.  In contrast a bunch of my biggest bass attack baits with  a very subtle bite, and then just sit there, with NO urgency to move off with the prize.  I guess their is self assurance, and safety along with their big size!

This was a solid 24 inch beauty which I knew lived here in good numbers, but have been avoiding me for a while.  Hopefully pics will follow.  The wife was losing belief my abilities, but it just goes to show, even a blind squirrel finds a nut once in a while. ~bb

Way to go George. I had a hunch that you were hard at it after the hurricane.

Thanks Flats, I have caught lots of bass, but few Kodak moments worth talking about.  Hopefully there will be more to come in the near future!
