Homemade motor dolly.

Anyone else get tired of motor dollys being either too expensive or not big enough to support your engines? Well, I decided to fabricate one out of a spare 55gal drum dolly for my 25hp. Here's what I have done as of now. More pics to follow as I progress.

I have a Small Engine Motor Stand I bought from the BPS back in 2007. It holds my 25hp Yamaha no problems with it as of today.

The one they had at our Dania Beach store said "Do not exceed 110lbs" mine weighs 143lbs. Same with the West Marine ones. The ones for my weight, arw all like 300+ dollars. So, when you have scrap steel, welders and a shop at your disposal, make one.

I noticed that weight comment when I was just checking them out on line. I never noticed that prior. Like I mentioned I bought mine back in 2007 and my 25hp 2stroke Yamaha sits on it just fine. I've moved it around in the garage a few times and haven't had any issues doing it > Knock on Wood now <

My motor weighs between 126 - 147 lbs. according to the Yamaha website.

Top, congrats on getting the project completed it looks great. I do have one question about the design. How do you move the stand around? I don't see any handles on the frame.

I have those old handles (when it was a drum dolly) to cut down and weld on. But for now, there's a big carry handle in the front of the motor, by the tiller handle I've been using.
