Conditions

Water Temp: 84-91
Outside temps: 90's
Water Level: High!
Water clarity: slight stain
Wind: Non-existent!  ~sweat  :surrender:
Current: Still running North to South
Fish boated: 28 peacocks and 4 largemouth
Fishing time: 0630-12:45

I had the opportunity to fish with our UB friend Flat's and his BIL. Our guide trip was originally planned during the week of the crazy storm and fortunately they were able to reschedule for today. Today was another special trip because Steve's BIL, has never fished the Everglades or for peacocks.

I arrived at the ramp at 0615, and Steve and BIL promptly arrived a few minutes after. Once settled we were under way. I made a 15 minute run to an area that was active with peas last week. My concern today was conditional changes, ie water levels. And yes, the water was up higher than last week.  :(

After formulating a quick game plan, the guys went to work. Steve started catching almost right away on top. It took his BIL a little time to begin connecting, but fortunately for him the peas began to cooperate.

We spent the morning covering a lot water. The guys were not exactly hammering the peacocks, but every once in awhile they would catch a nice drag peeler!

It was getting pretty hot, so I decided to take a 10 min run and check out another area and cool off bit. Unfortunately the area did not pan out, but we got to fish inside the marsh for a bit.

We ran back to the area where we started, and the guys caught a few more peacocks. By the time 12:30 rolled around the heat was pretty intense and water temps were 91! The pea's did not give us an excuse to stick around so I called the trip.

The conditions were not ideal today, but I'm proud of Steve and his BIL. They never stopped fishing in search of the next fish. Fortunately they boated 32 peas, and bass. I will say the mission was accomplished.  ~c~

What a fun day! Capt. Lou worked his but off trying to get us on the fish while in tough conditions. He succeeded and we had a blast! After getting settled in with a few fish, I tried experimenting with a few different new lures to see if the peas were interested. They all worked to varying degree! We shared a ton of laughs and heard the drag scream multiple times. Thanks, Capt. Lou, for the warm hospitality and all of the hard work in the near 100-degree hot sun. Conditions were brutal but we barely noticed because we were having such a good time. I highly recommend AE Fishing for a fishing trip of a lifetime.

I'm happy you guys had a great time, Steve. We sure did have quite a few good laughs today!

Great job Captain Lou, during less than ideal conditions.  We are so lucky to have game fish that love hot weather.    Peas are special,  and a lot cheaper, and easier than a trip to the Amazon!  A real experience of a life time to hook up a decent size freshwater pit bull!  Way to find some Captain! ~c~  ~c~  ~c~
