My friend of 30 years got a new boat and wanted me to check it out.  It's big and beautiful.  We decided to check out the Alley.  On the way out MM 30 was closed to launch, Mm39 was closed too.  We made a u-turn and went to MM35 and this one was open.  We launched and ran north up the river.
Every cast was getting slammed but they were not bass.  Cast after cast machine gun hits.  We caught over 20 rock bass, Oscar's, Jags, and a sneaky gator in the weeds.  We finally caught bass deep and slow and finished with over 20 bass none over 14".

It was a quiet beautiful morning with lots of wildlife sounds coming from the islands around us.  No shortage of gators especially around the cuts.  One gator came within 3 feet of the boat! A great day, on a huge bass boat, and with a good friend.

Thanks, a big solid boat.  The most comfortable one I have ever been in, but way past my needs.  A great guide boat for sure.

Those big Rangers are aircraft carriers, that's for sure!

any idea why the alley ra.ps were closed?

I don't know for sure, but the water is low and both those ramps are in bad shape the further in your trailer goes.  People suddenly drop off the edge, or just one side drops off.  The buggies and half tracks have those ramps all torn up!  They wash the mud off by running them up and down the ramp. :-*

Thanks Rick, we have to get out there together, if it cools off one of these days.  If just the humidity would drop!
