I know what you're thinking, you posted in the wrong board yadda yadda... But no! Hear me out.

Friend of mine runs a tobacco/fishing/toys/snacks shop by the sea (yes, curious combo but it works), I may or may not (*cough*) have mentioned you guys to him, as I was quite surprised to see him running such a shop since he is a mechanic.
Anyways, the thing is this - plenty of random tourists come over to purchase some semi-decent sort of entry level equipment to use - we're talking LESS than 10€ for a rod here, but he also sells some reels at 40€ or something like that. Now, he wants to get something somewhat cheap (from AliExpress, Wish or whatever else it may be) but not garbage (we're not scamming, duh) so that he can sell it to people at a profit. Since I know absolutely nothing about reels, I thought about asking you guys for advice on the matter... To put things into perspective he's currently selling some 40€ reels that he gets at like a quarter or half of that price, something like that - which is basically the goal.
The strength is to be defined, but we're not fishing sharks here, so nothing super strong.

Thanks in advance, my apologies if I expressed myself like a potato, I tried my best, it's not my field of expertise ~fff
Meanwhile, have wonderful holidays y'all.

Is your friend looking for top name brand quality or just well built solid performing reels? He can probably get a very good price on Dobyns Maverick reels and make a decent profit on them. For a slightly bigger investment, your friend can have the Chinese reel manufacturers make reels for him with his own own brand name. KastKing, Piscifun have established solid reputations and are even being used by pros. Those same reels could have your friend's brand on them.

I second this. I have several Piscifun reels that are actually decent reels and they frequently go on sale for less than $40 USD. I also own the Dobyns Maverick which, while a little more expensive is a few steps up in quality over the Piscifun and I'm sure your friend could get them at dealer cost and then mark them up for a decent profit.
I'm pretty sure FD, and I think Lou fish with Kast King reels. That should tell you something about the quality.

Also, don't overlook the lower priced reels from ABU Garcia. Reels like the Pro Max or Black Max are really good for the money, and if he can get dealer pricing on them I think he would find them selling quite well.

There are lots of good reels out there at affordable prices. With a little research and maybe some reaching out to the various companies I'm sure your friend could get "dealers cost" from any number of them and make himself enough profit to be happy.

Please keep us posted on how things go for him.

Thanks everyone for your super useful replies, I had a look already and will get back to you with more informations as soon as my friend decides on specifics and such, but I did indeed find some budget stuff that looks pretty decent from the brands you guys suggested!
