@FlatsNBay asked me to post this thread, so here it goes.

I am a member of BoatUS, which is one of several companies out there that offer boat and trailer assist  services, should one encounter a problem on the water or on the road. I call them Triple A for boaters.

I have been a member of BoatUS since 2016. There are several membership categories, and I have the Freshwater membership with Trailer assist for an additional fee.

There are other memberships for Saltwater as well. The ways these services work is by purchasing annual memberships. Mine, I think, is $120-$130 a year. In the event of an on, or off, the water issue, these companies will come out free of charge and get you out of your jam. Be it a tow, a jump start, fuel, etc.

The reason why these services are so important to have is because if you happen to have a break down of any sort, on or off the water, a towing service will charge an arm and leg to get you back home or to the dock. But with a BoatUS membership, these types of situations listed above are covered.

Note, however. As mentioned, I have the Freshwater membership. I purchased this membership more for the trailer assist service than anything else. You see, unless you are stranded on Navigable Waterway, these companies can tow your boat back to the ramp. But this doesn't apply to the Everglades. Lake Okeechobee, yes. Flamingo, yes. Everglades out in the swamp? Nope.

But in order for me to have the trailer assist service, I need to be a member of one of four BOATUS membership tiers. The reason why the trailer assist is so valuable to me is because if I ever break down on the side of the road, BOAT US can tow my truck and boat back home!!

For the first time in all my years of trailering, I experienced a rare situation, and fortunately, I had my BOAT US membership. You can read all about what happened to me here --> Crazy Day!!

So if you happen to come across this thread, take it from me. It's better to have a boat and trailer assist membership with someone than not!!

Be safe out there. Thanks for reading!!  ~beer~

Yup, I highly recommend having some form of AAA service that covers everything on both the road and water. Currently, my Progressive insurance Sign & Glide coverage does that. Good Sam has such plans for campers and RVs as well quite a few insurance companies. Just read over everything carefully, ask the what if questions, and verify your coverage, no matter who you choose.

As you and I have both learned recently, having the coverage makes dealing with a mishap a lot easier. For those fishing tournament trails, it's a must have.
