My brother and I are planning a June trip to Minnesota (we're from Ohio) to fish for some Smallies, Pike, and a few walleye for shore lunches.  We are totally "catch & release" guys - except for the walleye:)  Right now I am pushing for Rainy Lake - to fish the Islands from Saganaw Bay to Big Island, but my brother wondered if Mille Lacs would be a better destination for us.  Neither of us have expeience on Rainy or Mille Lacs, so I would appreciate any information we could get comparing the two fisheries, and suggestions on which parts of these lakes to fish.  We prefer casting and trolling in shallower water.  We will be fishing from my Lund Rebel.  Thanks for any suggestions -

I don't have experience on Rainy but it would get my choice easily. Less pressure and the scenery is much better. Mille Lacs is still a works class fishery but it's heavily pressured and fishing can be very humbling.
