i had just bought my kayak.  i had a 6 foot Loomis i bought back in the day, and a few reels i pulled from my friend's junk box.  i put one reel on the loomis and went fishing.  i got a dink but i was hooked.  i went to buy another rod.  i wanted something longer so i could work a fish around the nose of my 12 foot kayak.  the store dude showed me a Dobyns Fury 703 and i bought it and put on my other freebie reel.  the Fury was comfortable and it punched way above it's price point.  i quickly learned that fishing a lightly weighted tex-rig or weightless Senko was my jam...and the 703 performed flawlessly.  i bought another one.

it is not bragging when i said i hit my stride and i started catching fish.  the 703 is the undisputed numbers rod in my arsenal.  mostly because it was almost always in my hands.  but i broke a few.  on hooksets.  the Dobyns replacement policy was easy thru my local shop, so i got replacements.  i just came from my garage.  i am down to two Dobyns Fury rods.  a 703 and a 733.  i have since quit replacing them when they break.  i love the rods, and i UNDERSTAND rod breakage is a part of life.  kayak life is not a gentle life for a rod.  i bought two for my brother.

i am moving on, but i will never forget them.  they were the rods that i went to when i rekindled my love for fishing, and found a new addiction in kayak-fishing.  i am way more gentle with the last two.  just last week, the 733 had the weightless senko and it was the star of the day.  i crushed them.

The Fury 733 was my first Dobyns rod. I won it in a contest right here on UB back in 2015 or 2016.

I have thrown so many different baits on that rod and it has handled them all flawlessly. Definitely fishes above it's price point!

I remember being a little leary of throwing a weightless Senko with it but first time out I cast that thing a country mile. It was my go-to rod for that technique for a long while.

Thanks. I needed a little walk down memory lane today.
