Hose leaking water under console

Hey everyone. I have a 2006 Nitro 482 SC and I recently notice water dripping under console and upon research it is a hose that seems to have gotten unhooked from some where. It is in amongst wiring and the water pressure hose coming from the gunnel. Both the speedo and water pressure hoses are connected properly and running back into gunnel. I have no idea what this one goes to and does not see long enough to reach anything else on console. The end is at an angle if that helps any.

My initial thought is to ask if you have a separate speedometer pickup on the transom or just the one on the lower unit of the motor? Pick-ups on lower units then to clog easily from hitting wood in the water. If the previous owner installed a separate pick-up and didn't remove the tube from the lower unit, the clog might be clearing itself. If that's the case, disconnect that tube and cap off the fitting.

Another thought is that it could be a drain tube for speedo, pressure gauge, or console itself. You might have to stand on your head under the console with a bright light to find the connecting point.

Find a large syringe, fill it with dyed water, inject into the tube, then look to where it might be coming out. It it's a drain, you should find it in the bilge, speedo pickup, on the floor.

It only leaks while the engine is running so I am assuming it has to do with intake of water in engine and dispersing it somewhere. The other thing is this hose runs inside the gunnel with wiring and the hoses to the speedo and water level gauge and then once it comes through gunnel and out under the console it just stops. It is not long enough to reach any of the gauges on the console and that is what has me puzzled. I am going to run it tomorrow and make sure that the speedo and water level gauges work properly and if they do will just plug it and see if it does anything.

Well does it leak if you're in neutral and not moving? If it only leaks when moving, I would think that would point towards a speedo pickup leak, if will start leaking even while sitting still, I would think it's something to do with a water pressure monitoring leak.

I have never owned a Nitro though, so kind of posting this blindly.

Maybe the previous owner had something like a Lowrance water pressure sensor connected to his graph?? Just a guess.

Ever get this figured out?

I looked at a new Nitro in Bass Pro the other day. I noticed it had what looked like a water pressure gauge on the dash. If that gauge gets its pressure reading from a tube, the fitting is probably the culprit.

I think Princeton Man was onto something. I just had a chance to look at it on the water and I ended up plugging it. All gauges worked as they should with it plugged and the prior owner ran Lowrance stuff so I am thinking it went to something he has and it was just stashed in the gunnel leaking and then out the bilge when run and I just happen to pull it back through under console when running new wires for units. Looks like plugging it was ok to do.

Good deal. Glad you got it sorted out. And no longer get wet legs while driving  lo
