looked to change it up a bit last Saturday.  Headed south to Guntersville fishing the river section *upper end* and current.

TVA was running heavy current, about 65,000 - 70,000 cfs.  sets up really good eddies, back-currents and seams.  water clarity was stained after the rain we've had this week and estimated 1 foot visibility.  not horrible.  for reference, chickamauga (after the Hiwassee 'meet up) was much more colored... nickajack a bit better...  and still better yet on guntersville.

water temps were 53°F main river and quickly rose to 60°F and warmer back in the sloughs.  easy to find fish staged in the creek mouths/cuts.  I was just playing so didn't rack 'em up.  Had a really fun day though with the white bass.  ran across more than a few of those bigger girls (2-3 pounds) and have some plans to head back out there this next weekend, weather willing.

think most reports on guntersville are coming from mid-lake on down.  I always zig when others zag... and appreciate being alone more than 'in the crowd'.

day temps stayed  mid-50's.  fished for about 3-4 hours in overcast, light wind circumstances.  about 3pm the rain came in and it was time to head home.  50's and wet just gets a little less enjoyable sometimes.

I like all species of fish... just lookin' for the tug most days.  got on a bit of a pattern for the bigger whites that I was chasing a little bit.  one or two pushed up close to 3 pounds.  not hybrids.  real whites, sand bass... they're always fun, but at that size, they're just a bit more interesting.  couple of bonus spots and smallies were encountered as well.

didn't have my preferred color along... but made it work.
