So I've talked to Dobyns twice this week ordering rods and some of the new dry fit shirts, etc (picked up a DX 743SF and DX743C) and keep forgetting to ask them about the FR Swimbait rod... They've taken the specs down off the website and I'm trying to recall what this rod can do.  I acutally bought it a while back when they were on sale and it's been sitting in the rod rack ever since.

IIRC it's the essentially the Champ 806CB with green paint and split grip, correct?

What kind of swimbait is this used for?  I don't really do a lot of swimbait fishing, so these might be dumb questions - but it is for throwing baits like a Rage Swimmer, Keitechs etc or is it more for larger fullbody/line through swimbaits like Magdrafts, Boom Booms, etc?  I assume the latter but can't remember tbh.

Anyone just using it like an 806CB, ie for 8XD/10XD and similar?  TBH I prob should have just gotten that rod as I prefer the full grip, but since these were on sale I figured I would try one...  Now just trying to figure out what to do with it :).

EDIT - OK, actually found a catalog PDF that had the specs still...  So looks like it's setup for larger full body/line through type baits, and 10XD's.  Still not sure what I am going to do with it yet...  But Since based on the 806CB (if that is correct) I can use it for anything the 806CB woud do I assume?  Which is bascially Magnum/Deep Cranks?

I've not used any of the Fab Fred rods.

I would fully expect to be able to do anything the 805cb is good for. Should be able to fish larger paddle tail swims and probably medium hard swims. I always find it difficult myself to fish large cranks with a rod that is so large, just hard to hang onto when there is a ton of pull all day long.

I tied a Magdraft Freestyle on it to try this weekend - never really thrown one.  Figure I will give it a try :).
