Follow up on Kidney Biopsy

Good morning.

I had a follow up with my kidney doctor this past Friday.  Over all it was a positive meeting. 

I have Membranous Nephropathy. 
Membranous nephropathy (MN) is the second most common nephropathy in adults.  It is the most common cause of primary nephrotic syndrome.  It most commonly occurs above 40 years of age, with the peak incidence between 50 to 60 years in the US.
This is a group of symptoms that include protein in the urine, low blood protein level, high cholesterol levels, high triglyceride levels, and swelling.

Treatment Plan is this; 
Doctors typically prescribe an angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitor or an angiotensin II receptor blocker (ARB) to keep your blood pressure under control. Decrease swelling (edema). Water pills (diuretics) help remove sodium and water from your blood.

Bottom line is I'm still vertical and breathing    I'm going to have to take medication now to keep this under control.  I have follow up with several medical clinics to ensure I'm doing what the doctors prescribed.

thanks for sharing the personal challenge.
I work hard on my sodium levels.  if I don't pay attention, I 'swell'...  and have learned that I'm pretty sensitive.
tomato sauces are really high in sodium.  processed foods are as well.  all of them. 


the challenge is they're also some of the least expensive.

lean meats, fresh vegetables - mostly green, leafy  VERY FEW ROOTS.  easy on the fruit (but when eating those:  berries, cantaloupe)

Guys, thank you all for the prayers and comments.  We got this thing heading in the right direction so far it seems like.  My wife has done a great job on changing my diet etc.  I'm actually feeling pretty good so far with taking all these meds.

While it's more pills, great news it's found, diagnosed and can be kept under control Do what the wife says and she'll keep you on track

The wife and doctors are In Charge    I'm behaving the best I can   There is a plan for after retirement on 3 Jan 23.  There won't be any rust gather on me
