Good afternoon to all,

I made a trip over to Ft. Hood to purchase my new fishing licenses.  I decided to stop and check out Cowhouse Creek off of East Range Road.  Cowhouse Creek is a popular fishing location on Belton Lake and Ft. Hood.

Presently Lake Belton is like 13ft below Summer Pool. Below are some pictures of Cowhouse Creek.  This creek is a main water provider into Belton Lake from the West end of the lake.  The pictures of the bridge area is the Turn Around Point for all boaters and anglers.  As your looking at the picture the area to the LEFT is the beginning of the Fort Hood Live Fire IMPACT AREA.  Fishing to the Right is the beginning of Belton Lake.

This location is where the boaters turn around at.  This is a former low water crossing area here for tracked vehicles.   You can't see the low water crossing during normal pool depths.  You have to turn around just past those power lines crossing the creek.

When the lake is at normal pool there are a lot of Bass Boats up in this area.  This is one of my favorite areas to fish on Belton Lake.  Carl and I have caught our fair share of really nice bass out of this creek. From the launch at BLORA to the bridge at East Range Road is an 8 mile round trip run.  Once you enter the actual creek itself you are faced with some of the Bassey's looking water you'll see on Belton Lake.

One of the things Carl and I have found out is there aren't bass at every fishy looking location.  You have to do some work and learn to spot fish certain areas.  My go to baits are a 1/4oz Firetiger Colorado Bladed spinnerbait, 1/4oz Bleeding Shad Willowleaf and any Texas Rigged Soft Plastics flipped / pitched or casted.

It's really sad to see the lake level down this low.  This one of the pretties locations on Belton lake when the lake is at Summer Pool.

This looks like the perfect terrain for your G3 if you still have it. Also I heard they are changing the name of Ft Hood shortly.

Yep I still have the G3 and its running great still.  I've taken it up in there numerous times. Yes they are changing the name of Ft. Hood also.  I don't member the new name though.
