The subject reference is due to the fact that river anglers never know what they are gonna get.  After Ian the river changed quite a bit.  A few of the places I like to go seems to have been impacted by contour changes and perhaps silt that is clogging up some of the entrances to the areas.  One place today the depth at the entrance was only 2ft.  I know that once you get in there the depth is 10-12 ft.  With tidal changes I just did not want to take the chance of getting caught back in the creeks and not be able to get out.  Same deal down by the rice fields, it just was not a good idea to go there on an outgoing tide.  I had noticed a lot of other features that changed but mostly in the bottom contours.  Each change for sure makes the fish act a bit different.  We caught some pickerel today and that is a fairly rare thing on the Waccamaw but nonetheless that is what we caught (unfortunately).  The vegetation has also relocated a bit.  Looks like a lot of it came from up river and was carried here by the current.  On a side note.  Normally we have quite a few Osprey operating in these areas.  None were seen both yesterday and today.  I guess they went elsewhere to find dinner.  We are heading out again tomorrow and I expect even more changes to be found.

Hurricanes do a lot of rearranging, and takes a while to settle down again.
The fish are also kiddy wampus trying to find their own groove in the new rearranged habitat.
In time it will become more unpredictably predictable.
