Looks like they will be taking this lake down again.  It seems like this is done every year with little benefit to the salvania.  I see in other posts the efforts on Black Lake Campti.  What efforts were performed there?  Are they the same as the "annual" drawdown on Iatt?  This poor little lake hasn't had a chance to rebound and here we go again.

I don't know what they did different on Campti. It was drawn down but not nearly as far as say Bistineau, there are limits on Campti. That might be part of it, not taking it so far down and allowing the wind and current to be able to pull the Salvinia out of the trees.

I haven't been on Iatt, but my (uneducated) guess is that some lakes drain better than others. Maybe Iatt is one of those that doesn't drain well?

I wonder what would happen if they would drain lakes like Iatt and Bistineau down as far as they can, use excavators to dig drainage for the backwater parts that still hold water, and then hit the deepest parts that won't drain any further with an herbicide like Sonar that gets sucked up by the plants from the water, and spray anything they can get to from the surface with Reward or some other contact herbicide. Seems like that way you kill the mats from the surface and underneath. Would probably cost a fortune, but I wonder what yearly drawdowns are costing once you add up loss of revenue due to these lakes being either drawn down or plugged up.
