I've heard multiple people over the years talk about a chunk of concrete under the water that eats lower units. From what I can gather, it must be somewhere between the Hwy 162 launch and that first boathouse on the left as you're leaving out of the launch headed south. I almost always use that launch, so I'd like to know where it is. So far I haven't hit anything, but I usually try to stay in that creek that runs along the bank and idle until I'm well past that boat house and out of the shallow spots before I get on plane.

Just wondering if anyone knows the GPS coordinates or can give a pretty good description of where that concrete chunk is at. Even idling over concrete could make for an expensive day on the water.

I used to fish that bank all the time and don't remember anything like that but that was a dozen years ago. I'd be curious to know where it is as well, I'm the guy that WILL hit it...

There was a large concrete block that was part of the old bridge that used to be right across from the launch where the old road came thru. It was also rumored that an identical block was in area you described. I haven't noticed the block across from launch in 40 yrs. The last time I remember seeing it was in the 70's. Assumed the Parish moved it or possibly the currant. It may have been moved when the lake was drained several yrs ago. I think I may have hit the other block many yrs ago but that might have been a nightmare  ~b~ ~b~ Of course all I had in those days was a Jon Boat with 25 Mercury and a wooden paddle. Think I caught more fish then than now  ~cf.

As I was reflecting on this post I remembered that about that time I bought a used OTTO trolling motor which was built in Bossier City.  Wondering if anyone remembers those trolls or am I the oldest man on earth

I know someone that tore up a prop on what he thinks was concrete, but last time I talked to him was years ago, and all I remember him saying was that it was between the boat house and the launch. This would've been late 90's to early 2000's if I remember correctly. I think the last time they drained it was 2010, so it could well be that they took care of it during the drawdown.
