I decided to step outside my "brand comfort zone" and pick up a set of Favorite Army Combos in 7'. Have a MH 7' Casting combo and a 7' M Spinning combo. Lets see how they rank and hold up against my Lews, Quantum amd Berkleys.

Anyone have any input on Favorite brand?

Well, just went bank hopping for an hour (maybe a little longer....) over at Osbourne to test out the two new combos. Mainly used the 7' MH Casting combo. I have 20lb test Power Pro on it and threw a 3/8oz Chatterbait Jackhammer in firecraw. All I can say is damn, I thought my Lightning rod or my Lews Blue Carbon was a good rod, this one blew them out of the water. It casts great and I could feel everything that Chatterbait was doing or bounced off of. Biggest fish was nothing to brag about, wasn't even a pound, but was a good break in for it. Didn't even have to really set the hook. Between the sharp hook and the rod action, I just reeled and it did the rest. I wonder if I can get one in M action for my worm rod as this will now be my Chatterbait/Swim jig/Spinnerbait rod.

Thanks for the info. Nice looking combo.

I have heard of them before but don't know anyone who has owned one. Glad it worked out for you.

When it comes to crankbait rods sometimes cheap graphite is a good thing.  My buddy at the tackle shop told me about the White bird MHM. It's a decent crankin' rod for about 70 bucks.
Would I buy another ?  No.. Favorite is never going to compete with G Loomis or Daiwa ect. but they have a niche and they have built the brand a lot better than I ever thought they would. Getting away from the Googan Squad probably did more to help them than anything.

I'm glad you're happy with those outfits Top. I use all BPS, mostly CARBONLITE, for the money they're very good and I buy them when they're on sale.

I don't really have any single brand that I would call a favorite, but what I have I like, and they work well. Most that I have now are getting old, like me!  lo

I have several of the BPS Extreme series rods, all baitcasters, a few Shimano, Quantum and some others. I have one old spinning rod that is a Pinnacle Guide Series and that has been a great rod. I've probably had it 25 years.

Some of the rods I have, like what I use for crankbaits are inexpensive models, and mostly composites.  I also have a Lamiglas Salmon/Steelhead casting rod, that I bought for tossing light jigs. It's 8'6" and for the purpose I used it, I'm very happy to have it. It's not a rod that a lot of folks who chase bass might choose.  I bought it primarily for fishing one river when I lived in MD, where I could wade & use it's length to flip small jigs, like 1/16 to 3/16 oz jigs.

I have two Quantum  7' Teton Trout model ultra light spinning rods, bought for chasing panfish and I give them a lot of use. I think I paid $25 each for them, and they've been some gems.

I'm sure that I'm forgetting some. I also have several fly rods, A Cabela's bought back in '89 that I was told back then the blanks were made by Loomis, several TFO, two customs built on older Sage & Loomis blanks, several Eagle Claw S Curve, an older Diamondback, and again some others I'm forgetting. I really enjoy fly fishing a lot and chase bass, panfish and Stripers in the lake with that type of tackle.  I use some very large flies for bass & Stripers.

Would I like to have "better" rods, sure, but what I do have has worked well, so until I need to get something else, I'll stay with them.  I am considering getting a few more spinning rods for finesse techniques, but have not settled on anything in particular. Whatever I choose won't likely be anything top of the line, as I can't really afford them, and won't see much advantage to them anyway.  I may even look for older fiberglass/composite rods.   :)

Had to "Start all over", due to my son stealing and breaking my stuff, but I feel these will get me by until I get some others as well. I am also considering the BPS Carbonlites.

If you go with the CARBONLITES, order them online to be drop shipped to the nearest store, no shipping with the danger of having them arrive broken. It also gives you an excuse to go to the store for the monkey catches you stuff.

I haven't liked the look of most of the Favorite rods but yours looks pretty good. I hope that you enjoy it. Sometimes when we break from the norm it turns out good. Keep us posted!

When I read the title, I thought you were asking about favorite "brand" rod, not "Favorite" brand rods.   lo  Have zero experience with Favorite rods, but glad yours is working out for you.

Several of my favorite rods cost me less than $100 (OG Tatulas).  A few less than $80 (Fenwick Elite Tech Smallmouth & Quantum PT Tour Edition).
