I broke my ankle in April of 2014, and the bottom line is I got screwed over- it never got fixed. And now because of that the rest of me has went plum to hell, especially my back. Without that solid foundation to stand/walk on, my back said "screw it". Man.

Anyway, I went to a bone doctor five times a few years ago. One time, I felt/heard a small "pop" when he worked me over. Other than that I never got any good out of it. But it's gotten so bad I can't continue. The chiropractor told me I was "fine", just "out of place". I'll bet I'm not "fine" now.

So I'm looking for any advice. I plan to seek medical attention starting next week- who/what/where to go? This doctor does X-rays reasonable (I'm not even thinking about the $ any more, I need to IMPROVE).  Do I talk to him again? He's a decent guy I think, but everyone in the world has different opinions of these guys. Some love 'em, and some not so much.

Any input is welcome. This crap has to stop, before I do.

P.S. I didn't realize how bad I was walking until I saw myself in one of my YouTube videos. I look like a crippled old vagrant.

May have to re-set that ankle. Thing is, so much time has passed, but then again, I'm not a DR. Although I did stay in a Holiday Inn Express once.... (those who know those commercials will get it.  lo )

Seriously speaking now, the 3 professions that come to mind are a physical therapy, Podiatry and/or Orthopedics. Specializing on the  ankle and/or lower leg. You will have to have gait analysis done. This way they can identify what's going on from the ground up.

Good luck resolving this issue. Hopefully you find relief soon.

All good advice so far.

In addition I would suggest you get an MRI on the ankle. It can show things like permanent damage to the tendons and muscles around the original injured area.

I leaned this the hard way after wrecking my knee 2 years ago while on vacation with Zippy. The x-rays showed no broken bones but I kept having problems putting weight on it walking etc. An MRI revealed that I had torn the meniscus and tendons around the knee and they didn't heal correctly. Unfortunately, I waited a year and a half to get that MRI and now the damage can't be fixed.

Well, another MRI was what the doctor had decided to do. After no contact for a year I was finally informed by my LIEyer that the case had been closed (work comp). I was shot down.

In all reality, I was probably toast from the beginning. I was diagnosed, after walking on it for two weeks, that I has a fractured ankle. That doc said I didn't need an MRI. FOUR MONTHS LATER I finally got one and they found I had a torn ligament AND a tendon... Two months later before a surgery that the surgeon said was "way more entailed" than he thought it would be. Two pins, four screws, and they cut and "moved" my big toe. For real. All too late, and I don't think the surgery took, anyway.

Pretty cool, huh.

See how my toes are pointed up in the air? They're still that way.

Wow, those pictures sure looked painful.  Hope you can get your back right.  I know how that feels too.  My back has been bothering me for the past couple weeks.  I have arthritis in my lower back.  I'm feeling much better now.

Yeah find a good doctor and see what they say.  Can also Google doctors and find good ones that way.  There are online reviews you can read.  You may need another surgery on the ankle (I am assuming the pictures are from before) and then rehab on your back to strengthen it.  My guess is you favored that leg so your back muscles are stronger on one side and can throw you out of kilter.  You need to discuss both your ankle and back with the dr so they are aware of both.  I love my chiropractor for my back and neck, but there are limits to what they can do.  Once your ankle is fixed, then you can focus on your back.

For you and others with pain, I swear by Zims Max Arnica.  Arnica helps with bruising and pain.  We have used it on my sons knee after surgery and I have used it for aches and pains and it is great.  Harder to find, but it is good.
