I've had more issues with my Splitshot HOOK REVEAL 9 inch, everything from being given the wrong settings by the tech staff to wrong depth readings and losing downscan. Friday I called support one more time and asked for the supervisor, after an argument and raised volume on the voices was finally turned over to a supervisor. I explained all the issues so far, reminded him I was a 30 year Eagle/Lowrance customer, he was told, Lowrance would send the paperwork for a pickup of the unit, the unit would be replaced by a WORKING unit, period, he agreed saying Lowrance would do everything to make me happy, he asked me to check a couple of things while I was on the line with him, I checked what transducer setting was used, the one I was given by a tech, after checking it I told him, UNKOWN was what the unit said I also told him the tech told me to put it 83/200. he told me my unit needed 50/200 asked me if I would try it but he made out all the paperwork for the return and replacement. Yesterday I headed out and started all the units, needless to say I didn't have downscan and had to do a soft reset which of course wipes all my settings, having to do them at the dock or one the water is not conducive to a good day. When I got home I called Lowrance support, when the tech came on I explained what was going on he looked up the case number and agreed, the unit would be picked up by FEDEX and when it hit the bench at Lowrance the replacement would be sent no questions asked.
30 years of purchasing Eagle/ Lowrance products and this is the only unit with a problem couldn't be fixed and the same with the replacement. I had arguments with tech support, if the techs computer doesn't agree with what is happening I'm at fault, wrong, give me the wrong settings, doesn't work for me. the unit doesn't work right so I certainly hope the new replacement works, I can't afford a new Humming bird right now.

Customer service is just terrible across the board. Hopefully you'll get up and correctly running soon.

CS is why I left Lowrance. My dad used them so I was technically a user since I was 12 years old, but they lost me last year. I am glad they did finally give in and are replacing the unit but now you're out a unit for however long that takes.

I certainly hope the new unit works perfectly. Like you said new units are very expensive.

Back when I sold boats we had issues of course with depthfinders, which means we had issues with customers as well. Not good. First to go, in the 90's, were the 'birds. Junk across the board. Then we started have issues with Lowrance. CS was weird/horrible as a dealer, and on the new stuff that's all there is. I never expected a customer to have to deal with the problems (although some did). That's why we went to Garmin on all of our new rigs, and I NEVER had one issue with a new unit. Ever.

I also loved the Zercom LCD flashers, and if I can I'll put on on my next bass boat. They were freakin' unBELIEVABLE.

I still have a new Lowrance 1240 A flasher in the box. They were pretty dependable as long as the transducer was rigged properly. The Humminbird super 60's on the other hand would vibrate the boat like a big Rat L Trap. Remember that?

Again, I'm well known for my disdain for technology. Fighting a depthfinder is not fishing. I am sorely waiting on a tournament trail that limits the angler to down-imaging graphs and flashers. Maybe an "over 55" deal, too.

Waiting.

Zercom was the cats meow... Had one at the console and the bow of a 90's model skeeter I owned years ago.

There was a time that Lowrance CS was very good. They had a couple ladies that would do all they could to help an customer. But after new owners and a few years seems like CS is handled through a call center now ~b~

Super 60, yep it was like riding a washing machine LOL especially when we had it in our tin boat.

All I need is the depth when I'm running the boat, the depth I'm fishing and if fish are in the area. A Flasher unit provides that as raw data. You provide the interpretation of the data. Humans have a habit of trying to make tasks easier for themselves. Modern graphs are doing the interpretation our brain used to do. It is supposed to give us more time to fish. I have seen anglers spend more time fiddling with the graph than they spend fishing.  Your mind has to be in tune with the water and how we interpret that as human beings. As of today, the human brain has more computational power than any computer. Use it!
To stay with the theme of this thread...I believe CS  for Lowrance is a CF of incompetence. Yes, the 'birds couldn't fly straight in the 1990's but do much better today. The units from RayMarine on my wife's cruiser are amazing. I called CS with a question which they failed to answer. The RayMarine radar is also amazing, especially at night. We never use the cruiser at night. lol

At my age these are probably the last units I'll buy, it's a shame a once proud company and leading innovator for electronics has settled into untrained "techs" reading computer screens for answers that are guesses. :( :( Like many a "proud" company. living off past glory and sinking in reputation.
