Looking for some honest opinions from those who have used either engines. I purchased a new 2019 Evinrude 40hp E-Tec overseas here and had it shipped home for the new Lowe Aura 1648MT (Bass Pro said no ETA on the new Tracker 1648. But Dusky Sports has the Lowes in stock. ) I'm buying. Now I've got a lot of people on my social media and other sites saying "Should have went with a Yamaha 40 or Tohatsu 40!" and "Ditch the 2-stroke for a 4!" Yet, ALL the YouTube videos I've watched, the Evinrude 30 and Suzuki 30, have more power in a smaller package. And honestly, it's a light mod-v boat, so lighter motor (about 100lbs) is a plus.

So, looking for some honest feedback of these motors. Thanks.

As I'm sure you know the E Tec is no more so how parts are going to be in years to come is anyone's guess.  Personally I ran one for several years and loved it.
What HP is the Lowe rated for ?  10 HP is 10 HP but I'd guess maybe 5MPH more out of the 40.

Yes, I'm aware that they "went under". BRP still sells engines overseas here though. It's apparently still a popular engine brand here too. So for 2800 bucks, and 200 shipped (shipping and customs fees), I couldn't say no to that price.

It's rated for 35hp max, so I figured 30hp should be good.

Yep, I would take the Etec everyday.

I agree, I still prefer the simplicity of a 2 stroke over a 4.

You're comparing two great manufacturers. I've run mostly Evinrudes my whole life and love a 2-stroke. When someone voices concerns about parts and Etecs, the Evinrude mechanic here points out that he's still able to get parts for motors made 50 years ago and that parts are still being made. Panic buyers (hoarders) caused a few shortages when BRP made their announcement, but that has since leveled off. Also, warranties are still honored.

Thanks guys, sounds like I made a good choice then. Can't wait to get home, build my "tin can" and hit Lake Okeechobee.
