I have said for probably over a year that I would do a short video of the knot I like to tie. It's different than any other knot I've seen. I use it for Mono, Fluoro, and Braid (with braid you have to double the line thought the eye at the beginning of the tie).

I have used this knot for 15 years and can honestly say I have never had it break. I've had line breakage but never come back with a curly Q suggesting my knot broke or came apart.

Give it at shot and let me know what you think

I've been using a close version of that knot. Glover showed it to me. With braid being slick you def have to double it like you mentioned!

That's pretty darn close to a Chinch Knot or a Hangman's Knot.

The Hangman's Knot I do believe went back up through the loops and out through the Top Loop and had a Overhand Knot tied onto the Tag.

Made to slip so the rope would pull easy and fast to snap the neck of the person being hung. If it didn't snap they would choke to death.

Anyway I've used a similar knot to that over the years as well.

Mike, I've been using that same exact knot for many years. I think I first saw it on a Bill Dance fishing show back in the 80s.

The closet named knot that I could find is the Pitzen knot but on the Pitzen, you run the tag through the bottom loop by the eye before passing it through the top loop.

I thought that it was the best knot for many years until I tested it on a knot machine at the Bass masters Classic. There were several knots that were better. I was surprised and disappointed.

I still use it to this day except for fluorocarbon. I use the double Pitzen and it is an amazing knot for fc.

I've heard it failed on that machine before. But I prove to myself over and over that it's strong and durable. I am a line watcher/checker as well. Since I pitch nearly all the time, I'm constantly feeling my line above the knot and will retie in a heart beat. Might be the reason this knot is so successful for me, I don't give it time to fail because of the frays above it. I will also retie after a good fish, or after a couple average fish. Just a habit.

I don't know where I learned it, I've been tying it for so many years I can't remember tying anything else on a regular basis, Bill Dance in the 80's -- probably :-* I loved watching him haul monsters out of that pond of his.  ~c~ ~c~

Thanks for watching and thanks for the feedback ~c~ Anyone else with a name clue or that uses it or won't please let us know.  :-*

I think that's one I tie sometimes but I double the line and do 4 wraps. I think they call what I tie a double pitzen.  Never tried just single line though.
