When I started this hobby I had a mish mash of rods, one year, trying to up my game, I decided to start using a single series of rods, the ones I picked were BPS Bionic Blades. At the time they were a new series in the BPS lineup, at 80$ ea. one I could afford so I tried one and felt good so for a number of years I would buy one or three on sale at 10 mor 20 bucks each off it worked out for me. One year they came out with their CARBONLITE series the first year I had 4, the next year I upped it to 8. They were lighter and more sensitive and I was doing pretty well in tournaments. Same deal, price point I could deal with, especially on sale, my favorite way to buy them.
At this point there are only one or two more rods I would like, these are what I'll settle for, they work for me and feel good in my hands. One day I would like to get a premium make and, no offense to Gary or FD it would be a St.Croix Legend, just been a dream since the first time I picked up one.
Raising 3 kids and help put them through school, I was limited in what I could spend, I searched and found what I could use and worked with them, no complaints, I'm satisfied with the choices I made.

Old Fishermen never die, their rods just go limp.

Not offended at all.  I have an old Legend that still makes it in the boat on a regular basis.

It was one of the reasons I started building to begin with.  I wanted that quality but could not afford it.  I can build that rod for myself for about half what it costs me to buy it.
