I usually avoid lakes on week-ends, especially holiday week-ends.  But, today was the day my buddy James Moseby could go so off to Lake Oroville we went.  We got there very early but all the parking lots looked packed from holiday boaters.  Fortunately the lake was not that bad and we only came across one other boat bass fishing.  Water temp was 80.5 when we launched at 6:15 and 82.5 when we pulled out a little before noon.  We started on shaded banks on the main lake.  No topwater but did have good results for spotted bass over 2 pounds with a bass patterned Fat Free Shad.  James called out 'Got one, big largemouth!"  I got the net and after a pretty good fight it was in the net.  He caught on a Fluke with 8# test line, he threads a small treble hook on the EWG hook and that is what caught the fish.  Great job playing  and landing it.  Due to low water, it is now 222 feet down, new islands are showing up, we tried one and were rewarded with a few jig fish.  Moving around the lake we also caught fish on hula grubs and Ned rigs.  Fish were from 3-25 feet and we were seeing lots of bait.  I caught two while reeling my lure up, decided to try a Keitech swimbait, but that did not work.  Water clarity varied from 2.5 -6 feet visibility.  I was most proud of the spotted bass that I caught that exactly matched my Fat Free Shad!
I knew I shoulda re-tied!!

Thanks for the report. Seems awful early for the lake to be that low...
