Hale/Loon Lake area

Does anyone have any info about the Hale/Loon Lake area? Going to be vacationing there with the family for a week next month. Bringing the boat and wondering about fishing opportunities

Hope this isn't too late.  Yes Walloon is worth hitting.  I hit it about week ago and did real well for such a short trip.  Beautiful lake to fish.

Vacation is over. In hindsight I wouldn't have brought the boat. We had poor luck with weather. Gale warnings, cold fronts, high wind. Probably only got to fish a total of 6 hours on Loon and Long, ended up with only one small mouth for my efforts.

We may have been fishing during the same week.  It rained a majority of the time I was there and gail force winds other days.  Check out this short video I did of one my days.  It's around Charlevoix and Petoskey.  It shows the winds and waves coming in off the lake.  It made it impossible to even fish a small lake.

Yea it was brutal. That Friday I drove from Detroit through Chicago on my was back to St Paul. As we were going through Indiana and CHGO we went through that massive storm cell that caused all the flooding in Detroit. Not too fun with my boat behind and a two year old in the back seat. Took us 13 hours to get home.

Ouch!  We left a day early because there was no end in sight for the rain.  Drove through rain for 5 1/2 hours.  I guess that wasn't so bad now after reading yours.  We did have our phones go off once while driving back for a tornado warning.
