Its been a few years now that Shimano switched to using a plastic material instead of metal on the worm shaft and pawl. All my Shimanos are the older 51e series, but I recently picked up a Scorpion 71 and I'm enjoying it so far. It's got me looking at the CU MGL 71. Before I jump I would like to know if anyone has experienced or heard of how the plastic parts are holding up.

There was a lot of screaming at first because everyone just knew they would fail and there hasn't been any issues. If there were problems the internet would make a flame thrower out of it in a day. No news is perfect news now a days...

I think the major concern was that after multiple removals of the worm gear the c clip would wear and cause issues but that hasn't happened either.
