My 2005 Triton TR185 livewell drain line from the bottom off my livewell to the transom has a leak and is slowly filling up my bilge area throughout the day. The leak seems to be coming from the elbow fitting in the transom and I want to replace it.

Looking at fittings online, there appears to be different sizes, anywhere from 1/2" ~ 1-1/2". Do the livewell fittings have a standard size or vary by boat brand / model?

I don't want to take out the broken fitting to measure the size until I have a replacement as I don't want to be off the water for too long. Is there a way to find out the size?

And a I have a second livewell drain related question.

My transom fitting is plugged up with silicone (see below photo), and has been since I've owned the boat (probably by the last owner due to the leak  ::) ). This silicone is now coming loose. I want to make this drain functional again. My question is;

Where do you guys plug your livewell drain, in the livewell itself, or in the transom? and what kind of plug do you use?

I have a leak somewhere in my system also. I just got the boat, so haven't traced it yet. But I won't be using the livewells anyway. I bought 2 plugs for the exterior, 1 for the intake and 1 for the drain. It turned into winter here, so I haven't been able to try it yet. Hopefully this will eliminate my bilge getting water in it. I'll report back, but you'll probably have it all figured out by the time I can get back on the water.
