Thursday Nighter... It's a tie!

We had a tough night. I started off with a short fish, then managed 2 unders. Then we finally got the big bite we were looking for. Dad had broken off in a brush pile. I asked him if he wanted me to retie his Shakey Head. He said no, keep fishing I'll get it. He struggles with the Shaw Grigsby Flouro knot. But it's the best I've found. I usually tie it for him, so he can get back to fishing quicker. Anyway, he didn't tie the knot right, and I was standing on the back deck with the net, and the fish was about 5' from the motor when the knot popped at the hook. It was an over, at least 6 or better. Dad managed to boat one more right before dark and that was all we would do. One of my buddies had one fish for 5.4, and we had 3 fish for 5.4. We wound up splitting $140 for first as we only had 7 boats and John got an additional $35 for big bass. The guys at the weigh in are just hilarious. The guy holding my fish in the basket has been a friend of mine since little league and he is a clown! The other guy in the back ground cutting up is a retired NFL DLineman. It was his partner that had big bass. We have a great group of guys that fish, very little drama and that makes these little weekly tournaments the best!
