Hey guys,

Been doing some research on a few things for a new boat setup.  This would be for a fiberglass bass boat, 18' with a 150.  Just wanted to get everyone's take on a few things regarding shallow water anchors and/or spot-lock trolling motors.  For instance, one anchor or two?  anchors or spot-locks?  Both anchors and spot-locks?  Just kind of wanted to start a thread with everyone's take on pros and cons for these items and the different scenarios for uses.

love my spot lock in current and wind.  going forward, would not want a TM without it.

I can't comment about spot lock, but I would recommend an anchor as a back up in case you lose power or something else goes wrong.  As to type, you can look up the different types for the bottom of the lake you will be fishing.  Ours is muddy, so I use a mushroom one and works well.
There is nothing like sharing any moment outdoors with someone special!

If you fish shallow and in vegetation, 1 power pole, preferably 2 poles will serve you great. Open water conditions a spotlock feature from what I read are great.

Same here, I won't be able to fish from a boat without spot lock again.

I do have a single 8' PowerPole and love it when fishing shallow, but it doesn't work all that well when it is windy as the boat keeps spinning around in circles  lo

So, if money was not an issue, I would get the spot lock first and then TWO PowerPoles (possibly 10 footers). Both have there time and place.

Two poles or talons and spot lock.

They have different purposes and are equally valuable.
