I decided to change things up and go Peacock bass fishing.  Conditions were right for it, but the Pea's had a different plan. I saw 0 Pea's today. :(  I did however, come across many of the Pea's cousin, the Mayan Cichlid.

They are a fun fish to catch. But I get bored of them quickly.

Then as luck should have it, a few bass decided to show themselves.

Biggest one went for 18"

Any one have any luck bank fishing lately??

At least you got something! I went out today at a local pond a brisk 37°F, water temp around 35° tried out my new 705CB with my Tatula for real the first time and I was impressed! I could cast a mile! I was throwing a brown/blue jig and a lipless crank most of the time I was there so I managed to get hooked up on a decent largemouth but he jumped and got off. Somehow a bluegill managed to get a part of that lipless but he got off too. It was fun though at least I got out for a while.

FYI Broward guys, they closed Vista View Park until further notice.  So I would imagine all Broward Parks are now closed to all activities.  Before going to Lox you better call to see if the gates are closed.

As are Dade County Parks and facilities.

when they are calling for wind gusts over 40 mph its time to leave the boat at home. So a trip to the local lake was called for before I lose my mind at home. Oneida dam is a long skinny lake and the wind was blowing straight down the middle. So we fished where there is some cover mixed with rock shoals. The water temps are getting warmer , I'm guessing mid to upper 40's.
It paid off with three fish. I think the warm rains have finally got them moving up shallow. All 4 bites we got were on shallow 4-5 fow rock shelves near water runoff pipes.

Other than a brief shower with hail it was a fun day.
